Welcome to Sports are Queer.
For the moment, I am running this on my own. Name is Alinia Arrick (Allie) and my posts on here are A.M. Arrick.
I have been covering sports now for almost fifteen years at different levels and wanted to create a website where positive stories about the queer community in sports and positive stories in general can be communicated.
In today’s society, there is way to much negativity on social media and on the inter-webs and I really want to do a little something to help combat that.
In addition to the positive stories, I will try to cover sports that do have a queer component to them.
As for myself, I am transgender female or, as I like to say, female. I’m 57 years old and based in Michigan. I’m married with two kids who were active in sports and to be honest, I’ve been involved with sports my entire life as well playing, coaching and officiating.
I’ve covered men’s and women’s professional, college, and high school sports primarily as a photographer but also as a writer and I can’t wait to share some of the features that are swirling around in my head.
